On opening your Tool ID app for the first time, or when no reader is connected, a button will invite you to 'Connect'. First, press the yellow button on your reader for 2 seconds until a buzz is felt and your reader will flash a white then blue light. This means it is in pairing mode. Press 'Connect' and your reader will then be listed on the screen. Click on it and your reader will be connected.
Possible reasons for not connecting
The reader is not switched on
The reader on switch has been pressed for too long and the light is red. This indicates the reader is in shut down mode and will need to be reconnected.
The reader is already connected (the button 'Connect' will not show in this instance)
The reader is out of charge
The device is not connected to 'Bluetooth' which means it will not be visible to other devices
The 'Bluetooth' mode of your mobile device or tablet is not activated
